Reflection of this past semester
So the end of the fall 2010 semester is coming really fast and this happens to be the last blogg posting i have to do, so i thought i would do a sort of concluding blogg. I've really actually liked this semester. All of my classes weren't to bad. I was really lucky that i had the same schedule as most of some of my friends from high school did. Megan and i had the same exact schedule here at redbud, but the only class we had that was different was our math. Hers was in redbud and mine was in belleville. Looking ahead, it kinda sucks that I'm going to Beck Career Center for lpn instead of continuing here at swic. I'm really excited, but when i got the list of everyone else that is in the program.. i didn't know anybody. Apparently this one girl i used to go to high school with might get in because some people backed out. So hopefully she does so i can have a study partner. It's gunna be really hard. But it's something i really want to do so I think I'll be okay. But I'm going to miss everyone i'm going to classes with now. I'm leaving for a whole year and then coming back to do a few more classes in 2012 so i can start the rn program. Most of everyone will be ahead and already in their programs and ill just finishing up with my generals. It'll be okay though I'll see them around.I'm just really tired with this whole school work routine.

Thanksgiving/ Christmas
So Thanksgiving is coming up really fast along with Christmas and i'm really excited. For Thanksgiving i have two diners to go to. One with each set of grandparents. One of the diners is at a hall and the whole family comes to eat and just spend time together and the other is just at my grandparents house and we just eat. I can't wait to eat! I'm also really stressed out for Christmas. I have a lot of expenses like tuition and a credit card to pay off before school starts in Janurary, because I won't be able to work much at all so these things need to be paid off. I really want to get my whole family at least one gift and I also have a big present to buy thats really expensive for a friend. I love buying gifts for family and friends. I just love giving. I rather give than receive a gift. I also have a lot of traditions that I do every year. I always have to watch charlie brown for Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas. I also can't miss all of the ancient Christmas shows on like cbs or something. My mom usually has like four Christmas trees up. Our main one is a revolving tree which is in our living room, we have a regular green one in our dining room and then we have two white ones in my room and my sisters room. I also have to go to the mall around Christmas, it's so crowded, but they have christmas music playing, and the santa pictures in the center of the mall. It's just so jolly.

Holiday Courses
So I'm looking into taking some holiday courses over this coming Christmas. I'm not looking forward to it but since im going to beck for the nursing program in January, i wont be here for the spring semester which will make me lose the scholarship of five hundred dollars for that semester. It sucks really bad but i really dont want to see that money be given away to someone else. No matter what I'm coming back to swic to finish with a rn degree, so id rather be really busy and try to get a few classes for that money instead of paying for it later when it could have been free. It's been a very busy week for me... Ive been working around the clock. Work called me in on Halloween to work night shift which is ten thirty at night to seven in the morning and then i had to go back in that same day at two to work my normal evening shift. It was bad i was driving home and almost fell asleep! I've never been that bad before or experienced almost falling asleep while driving. I had to roll my windows down and turn the radio up!

Assesment?
So for one of my very least favorite classes I had to take this test called the Mbti. It is a test through swic that asks you a variety of questions that are supposed to help guide you in the direction of a career for you. Now I have already decided senior year that I want to be a nurse, so it's really pointless for me but it would be a good tool for anybody who still hasn't decided what they would like to major in and do for the rest of their life. The test composed of a variety of questions, about one hundred I think, that asks you what you would do in certain situations. Are you more of a social person that talks to people or are you more quiet and reserved and is the type of person to get talked to. I just answered all of the questions really fast and I'm curious to see what my results will say. I still think i will be pointed towards a career in anything that has to do with people and being involved socially with them and provided some kind of service and help to them. I know for sure it won't have anything like miner or construction worker, I would laugh so hard if it did.
Birthday weekend
So my birthday was on Tuesday, October, twenty-sixth. I had a really good birthday. I went out to Tequilas in red bud for the first time on the spur of the moment with a few friends from class. It was really good I got a chimichanga and my friends told them it was my birthday so they sang happy birthday to me and i got a free pancake thing with ice cream. I left a comment card though because i ordered that i didn't want any pico de gallo because its gross and they gave me a huge hunk so I wrote that on the comment card. I felt bad after wards. But since my birthday was on Tuesday, I went out the weekend before. So I couldn't decide to ethier go to the Darkness or Creppyworld, so eventually we all decided to go to creepyworld because we heard that there is a rough neighborhood by the darkness. So it was alot of fun. There wasn't much of a wait when we got there, but as it got latter into the night more and more people started to come. The only thing that i thought the place could use was more people to scare you. There were alot of parts where it was just scenery to look at and go through. Anyways it was alot of fun and I'm glad we went.

The Darkness
So in a couple of weeks, myself and a group of friends are planning on going to The Darkness. Now I've heard so much about this place and I've wanted to check it out. It's in Soulard and it is one of the haunted houses in America that is the most reviewed. It also has been used for haunted house footage from the National Geographic channel to NFL. I've heard it's really scary and I'm into this kinda stuff. There's always something to do in the month of October! Last year I went to the Haunted Trail in Waterloo and the Haunted Woods in Evansville and it was fun, but it the one in evansville used to be so much more fun when it was ran by someone else than the fire department. The fire department has recently taken it over in the past few years and they have more rules to follow for safety reasons. There is another big haunted house I would like to go to but don't think i can make it this year, it's called Creepy World and it supposed to have seven different haunted houses in one location or something like that; that's pretty convenient.Haunted World has ranked this screampark number ten in America. It's got a haunted hayride, haunted mansion, vampire themed graveyard, and a military theme one called Silo-x. So it sounds pretty cool after doing alittle research on them so if you haven't been I suggest going and checking it out.

Lpn Program
So I had a very good weekend this past week. I was out with my friends and we were all just hanging out. I got a call from my sister, and she said that Beck Area Career Center has sent me a letter. I was very anxious and excited to find out if i was accepted or not. I got home very fast and opened the letter. I really just wanted mom and dad to open it, but they were like you should open it. So I opened it and found out the good news. I was accepted. The only bad part about it was the tuition. It was $13,250. Very expensive. So I have alot of things to do on this upcoming week. I have also alot of deadlines. I scheduled to have doctor appointments, dentist appointments, and financial appointments. I'm very excited, and I'm very lucky to have some nurses I work with to give me a heads up of the program. I've learned I'm in the 'easy' class. So that's good! But I really take this seriously and I've waited to find out since March to find out if I'm in; so I'm going to do my best in the class and utilize all of the information that I can.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Sucks!
I would like to make a blog on a sort of review on razors. So I used to use really cheap dispsoable razors to do my shaving. I have a chin strap and im very picky on how it looks, so I decided to go a step up and buy a nice razor. Well i was watching television the other day and I saw the Gillette Fusion ProGlide and they advertised that this particular razor has special gliding razors that are supposed to prevent razor burn and be gentle on your skin. So I was very excited because I always without a doubt get razor burn with my cheapo throw away razors. I hate razor burn with a passion and I like this new razor, because I have razor burn no more, but I dont get all the little hairs off! I have little pricklys that drive me crazy. I mean you can't see them from a distance like you can only see them if your like really close to my face, but I'm still very self conscious about it and i really just want somebody to give me some advice on a really good razor that doesn't give me razor burn and removes all of those little pricklys!!So please comment and let me know what razor you use and if you like it.

Halloween
I know it's alittle early to be talking about Halloween, but October is only a week or less away.I saw a sign in Ruma the other day about some haunted house or something and it made me think about last year. Every year my group of friends and I always go to all of the haunted houses around this area. Last year we went to the "Haunted Woods" in Evansville, then the one called the "Haunted Trail' in waterloo, and those are the only ones I can remember, it seemed like we went to at least three, I just forgot the last one. Halloween is my favortie time of the year besides Christmas. My family has this tradition where we go to Red Bud to the pumpkin patch outside of town to get pumpkins. Last year we had my blazer, and my mom was like i want cornstalks and haybales! So we were driving down the highway with cornstalks falling off the top of my car and pumkins and haybales inside. We are always cramed in the car every year. There was a statistic on Fox 2 News stating that people spend just as much on Halloween as they do on Christmas! Can you believe that? I mean yea costumes cost like fifty bucks a wack but just as much as christmas? I just couldn't believe that!

Hit and Run!
So I had a very exhausting week, balancing school and work is no fun at all! I was looking forward to my weekend coming up because I actually have it off from work and I get to go see some of my friends. So while we were hanging out I remembered I had to pick something up from Walmart before I left for home. I pull up to Walmart and go in side and get the few things I need and when I come back to my 1998 Chevy Blazer, I notice a big dent in my rear bumper area, and I said to myself whoa that for sure wasn't there before! I look around and there are no cars by mine and I'm like great, guess who's paying for that? Me! So it was very depressing and I don't even know when I'm going to have time to get a estimate to see how much more I have to work to be able to fix this. Life little hassels right? On the bright side my car is really old and its not as bad as having a new car getting a dent because I would be infuriated then! So todays lesson for everyone is to park all the way in the back in walmart parking lot, away from other cars!

-Old Cartoons are the bomb-
I was really bored the other day and I was on you-tube. I was like why not tube some old shows i used to watch when I was younger. Some of my favorites were Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, The Angry Beavers, Catdog, Real Monsters, Hey Arnold, The Big Comfe Couch, and Gumby. Now I know we're supposed to blog on topics that have a significance so I was going to point out how bizarre some of these shows were, that young kids used to watch. Thinking back, I loved those shows, but some of them had suggestive content not really suitable for a younger generation to watch. For example, on Rocko's Modern Life, I tubed this video that was about Mr. and Mrs. Bighead, who are Rocko's neigbors, lost the lust in their married life. So Mrs. Bighead tried to attract attention, in a flirtatious manner, to Rocko. This made Rocko very uncomfortable and what eventually happened Rocko set the Bigheads back up and they were happy again. Thinking back I was like, wow I really loved these shows, but I didn't remember much of what messages were being sent through them. It's very interesting how they would put something like that for young viewers to watch. On the other hand, I never really remembered much of anything that impacted my "development" from my younger years up till my adolescence years. I guess this is the reason why Nickelodeon got rid of these shows, because I never see them on anymore.

Hurricane Earl
Hurricane Earl is getting stronger and is developing winds of 140 mph. It's path is scheduled to hit the Atlantic coast, from North Carolina up to Massachusetts. Thousands of tourists are evacuating for safety from the strong storm. It is a big inconvenience for the vacationers because of Labor Day weekend. Most people see Labor Day weekend as the last weekend to go out as a summer holiday. It is rated as a category 2 hurricane. It is expected to hit Thursday night into Friday morning. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected on most of the East coast. The Atlantic coast getting hit by this storm takes me back to when Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans area. It's been five years since the hurricane, but it's taken that long for the Southerners to rebuild their homes. I remember this hurricane so well because I was in grade school when it occurred, and I ran a fundraiser for those people affected by it.I was in a Beta club and the members and I made collection cans and we placed them all alound town in spots where most people visit. We didn't save up much, but every little bit helps. Thinking back, this also reminds me of the Tsunami of the Indian Ocean in 2004, that killed 200,000 people.Well that's alittle update into the hurricane and it's progress; I hope everyone on the east coast is prepared, and are in a safe place.
