Halloween

I know it's alittle early to be talking about Halloween, but October is only a week or less away.I saw a sign in Ruma the other day about some haunted house or something and it made me think about last year. Every year my group of friends and I always go to all of the haunted houses around this area. Last year we went to the "Haunted Woods" in Evansville, then the one called the "Haunted Trail' in waterloo, and those are the only ones I can remember, it seemed like we went to at least three, I just forgot the last one. Halloween is my favortie time of the year besides Christmas. My family has this tradition where we go to Red Bud to the pumpkin patch outside of town to get pumpkins. Last year we had my blazer, and my mom was like i want cornstalks and haybales! So we were driving down the highway with cornstalks falling off the top of my car and pumkins and haybales inside. We are always cramed in the car every year. There was a statistic on Fox 2 News stating that people spend just as much on Halloween as they do on Christmas! Can you believe that? I mean yea costumes cost like fifty bucks a wack but just as much as christmas? I just couldn't believe that!

  1. Dude I know! I'm so excited about Halloween! I love it! I've never been to any of those haunted trails, but I did go to Creole house in Prairie Du Rocher! It was pretty awesome, I think! I was heavily intoxicated, so that might be the reason I remember it being so cool, it was probably more of a good laugh then anything. We have so much stuff planned for October this year. We're going to a haunted walk in Alton, Frightfest, and a couple hayrides! I won't be dressing up, because like you said, costumes are crazy expensive! Well whatever ya do, have fun!

  2. Wow that is crazy that people spend as much as christmas on Halloween. I would of never thought that. Halloween is a pretty sweet holiday though. Especially with all the haunted houses and stuff around. You have probably arleady went but if you havent you should try going to the darkness. Its like ranked nationally for America's top scariest haunted houses. If your wondering where it is at, it is over in St. Louis I think probably more Sulard or however you spell the name. Anyways, other than the haunted houses, Halloween is awesome. Especially all the candy. And i always had good times stealing peoples pumpkins in highschool.

  3. Yeah, I am pumped for Halloween as well. My parents already bought pumpkins for us to carve and Halloween is a month away. I can see what you mean by how much people spend on Halloween. If you think about it, some people go all out on Halloween costumes, say $50 for a costume, then the people that have Halloween parties, well there's another $50 or more on decorations and food. Then there are people like you who spend money on hay bales and corn stalks, well there is money added too. So it is a slow time of purchasing things throughout the month that slowly add up to a lot. But I agree, Halloween is fun and you can't celebrate it with out the candy and the costumes and the pumpkins.

  4. Hey, I've seen that sign too, in fact, I see it every time I go to school. I also went to that Evansville deal last year; It was really just an opportunity for me and my friend Jeremy (mainly me) to crack jokes. There was this guy who came out of nowhere crawling on the ground, and all I could think of was "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up". It was all in good fun nonetheless.

  5. Yeah Halloween is almost here. I love going to the hunted house and trails. The one is Evansville we always go to. My cousin just moved here from Georgia and she loves them. So, I get to take her to all the hunted houses and hunted trails. We wish that there where a corn maze in the area. If anyone knows where there is one let me know. My brother is working at Riches hunted nightmare house north of Coulterville. That one is really scary. Can’t wait to go. Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

  6. In a way I can almost believe that people spend that much on Halloween. If you think about it, people are always decorating for it and buying crazy costumes. Think about how much those people put into the haunted woods and houses. It all adds up fast!
